Very nice handmade wooden box of a former inmate Torleiv Schibsted Corneliussen of the rare concentration camp of Grini, near Oslo. He was Norwegian sailor, Olympian, winner of the gold medal at the regatta at the 1912 Summer Olympics in Stockholm.
At the 1912 Summer Olympics he won gold in the sailing class of 8 meters. This box, a high quality handcraft, has some drawings of inmates doing hard labor works with spades, carrying stones in a quarrel or working with a peak. On the bottom it has engraved the initials of the inmate who preserved this case as a souvenir of his time in the camp and the text Grini 1942-1945. This camp was closed in 1945 and then it was used to incarcerate all those Norwegian Nazi collaborators. It is known that more than 2000 people died inside this camp by the Gestapo. Condition of the wooden box is good apart from the fact that hinge is broken
