Very rare token from KL Sachsenhausen !
The notes were designed by artist Horst-Willi Lipert, an early prisoner at the camp. Lippert designed the notes with a certain degree of bravery, including aspects of camp life within the detail and even scratching away at the "g" in "Konzentrationslagers" until it resembled a "y" during the printing process. The resulting "Konzentrationslayers" wording adorned many examples before the "mistake" was rectified. Images of agricultural work, industry and strong German symbols such as the Nazi eagle, armed guards and even barbed wire are present on the Oranienburg examples, which were produced in four denominations, namely 5Rpf, 10Rpf, 50Rpf and RM1.
